Appeal & Grievance Process

If a student believes they have faced discrimination or been denied Reasonable Accommodation on the basis of their Disability, they may file an internal complaint, grievance with WA state, and/or formal complaint with federal bodies.

Requesting Review or Reconsideration

If you would like to informally request review of your accommodation(s), you may contact the Student Access Manager, Jenna Floyd, at sas@wvc.edu or 509-682-6854.

Note: you are NOT required to try to resolve concerns informally before pursuing formal complaint or grievance remedies through a supervisor, a state, or federal agency

Formal Complaint with WVC

If you would like to submit an internal formal complaint, please contact Dr. Diana Garza, Vice President of Student Affairs at dgarza@wvc.edu or 509-682-6805.

Bias Incident Response Team

WVC Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) acts quickly and effectively in case of any hate crimes or bias incidents on our campus. A Bias Incident is characterized as a behavior or act—verbal, written or physical—which is personally directed against or targets an individual or group based on perceived or actual characteristics such as race, color, religious belief, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national or ethnic origin, disability, veteran status, or age. You can report a Bias Incident or Hate Crime here, or by emailing bias@wvc.edu
