 Activate ctcLink

What is ctcLink? ctcLink is kind of like the computer brain behind WVC. It's the online system all the departments at the college use to make registration, admissions, financial aid, cashiering and more, work smoothly.

Please follow these steps to start using ctcLink:

• You will need your SID (old student ID) or ctcLink ID (new student ID) to activate your ctcLink account.
• You can find your ctcLink ID by clicking this link and entering the email address you used to register or apply at WVC
  • If you have any questions, please email the Help Desk at helpdesk@wvc.edu for assistance.

1. Activate Your Account  (Click the dropdown on ID Type and select ctcLink ID or SID, enter your ID number)

Please note: When you go to the mobile version of ctcLink to pay tuition, you must activate your ctcLink Student Self-Service page by going to your self-service page in the desktop version of ctcLink first, at https://gateway.ctclink.us/ before you can use the mobile version of ctcLink to pay tuition.

 Update Contact Information

You can update your contact information through ctcLink in your Profile Tile.

 Student Responsibilities

All Wenatchee Valley College students are responsible for understanding and adhering to these network access guidelines and the WVC Acceptable Use policy. If you would like assistance with understanding these guidelines or have any questions on how they apply, please ask for assistance in the Library or Wenatchi Hall Computer Labs.

Students are responsible for the following:

• Log out when done: You are responsible for logging out of computers when you are finished. In order to protect your information and allow others to use the computers, you must log out when done or if you are leaving your computer for an extended period.
• Keep your password safe: When you are first given your credentials, you need to log in and change your password.  Be very careful with your credentials.  Your account contains a substantial amount of sensitive information. When your credentials are compromised, you are at risk of identity theft. If you have any doubt that your password has been compromised, please change it immediately.
• File Storage: Students are given adequate space to store files related to education and coursework in a semi-private area on the WVC network.  These files are accessible from home via virtual desktop.  We strongly discourage the use of USB thumb drives.
• Leaving? When you are no longer enrolled, your WVC student account will become unavailable. Please make arrangements to move your data to a source of your choosing prior to leaving school. This also applies to your student email account. Please forward any emails you would like to keep to your personal email address.
• Non WVC related personal, political, copyrighted or otherwise illegal materials: You are responsible for the content of the files in your storage.  Copyrighted, illegal, inappropriate, or any file of a personal or political nature are not allowed. Please be mindful of what you store on semi-private networks.  In order to audit and enforce the acceptable use policy, information technology has access to review your files.

You should also be familiar with these State of Washington laws which would apply to your college-supported computer use.

 Distance Learning

Learning from home can be a bit of a transition.  Here are some recommendations to make things more workable.

Equipment and Software - A Good Basic Setup Includes:

•  Computer
  • Monitor
  • Keyboard
  • Mouse
  • Webcam w/microphone
  • Headphones or speakers
• (or) Laptop – Most laptops have built-in speakers, camera, and microphone (the following items are recommended for better productivity)
  • Keyboard

  • TEAMS

  • Everyone at WVC has access to TEAMS - a Microsoft product. Login with your network credentials, all our Microsoft products are sync'd to our network credentials.

    Use TEAMS for your meetings, rather than Zoom. TEAMS already is included in our Microsoft Licensing. We are phasing out the use of Zoom.

    In the upper right corner of your TEAMS app, you will see 3 dots to indicate "more actions". Click that and you can schedule a new meeting. Scheduling meetings in your Outlook calendar also allows you to schedule a TEAMS meeting. You can also "Join" a meeting from your Outlook calendar invite.

    The "Chat" function in your TEAMS meeting is always saved after the meeting, and does not disappear. TEAMS functions very much like Zoom, only the controls are at the top instead of the bottom. You'll soon get used to using it, and we encourage you to do that sooner rather than later, as Zoom licenses will not be renewed.

Access to WVC Electronic Resources

Students at Wenatchee Valley College have access to many different computer resources using different sets of credentials.  Please remember to keep your credentials private.  Your information security is important.

If you have any problems with access, please call the the Helpdesk.

 Network Access

A network logon account is provided to every student enrolled in a credit class. This account is required to access the Internet, Wi-Fi, email and computers across campus.

If you are experiencing difficulty with access, check with your instructor, or call the Helpdesk at (509) 682-6550.

Please note:  Your credentials are very important.  They allow you to access confidential information.  Please take adequate precautions to ensure your security.  Passwords expire periodically and your account will be locked after several unsuccessful logon attempts.  If you need to reset your password, you may be asked to provide identification.

 Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint - Office365 apps are FREE for Students

Office365: https://portal.office.com

• This includes Office Online and the installation files to download Office on personal devices (tablets, laptops, computers) on up to 5 devices. You can use the web version on any device.
• Use your Network Access credentials to login to Office365

 Email Access

All students have been issued an e-mail account.  Access to email on campus is available through Outlook and off campus, through the Outlook Web App. 

Your WVC email address

Your WVC email address consists of your first initial, last name and the last four digits of  your ctcLink student ID number followed by @student.wvc.edu. Example: the email address of Robert Smith would be RSmith1234@student.wvc.edu.

• To set your password for the first time or reset your password, please follow the instructions found on www.wvc.edu/reset
• Passwords must not include any portion of your name and meet the following criteria:
• From 14 plus characters in length;
• Contain at least on capital letter;
• Contain at least one lower case letter;
• Contain at least one number and special character.

On Campus Access

Log on to campus computers using your username and password. You can access your email through Outlook.

Off Campus Access

Students can access their email off campus by visiting https://outlook.office.com/mail and login with their email address and password. 

Device Email Setup

We recommend that you use the Outlook App which is available for download via the iOS App Store or Google Play.  Configuration instructions are available upon request.  Please click here for device email configuration instructions.

Spam Control

WVC has software that detects and quarantines most spam e-mail messages before they get to your Inbox. While no spam protection is perfect, we strive to provide students and staff with a great email experience.  If you have issues, questions, or concerns, please contact:

 Wi-Fi Access

The Wenatchee Valley College Wi-Fi Network provides free wireless Internet access to any member of the college community with a student or staff logon account and a Wi-Fi capable device. 

Note: Since wireless bandwidth is shared among all users connected within a given area, network speed may be noticeably slower when many people are using the wireless network.

 Printing from Your Personal Device (Virtual Printing)

• You can print from your personal device to the Virtual Printers on campus.
  
• You must be logged into the Wi-Fi.
• Click the link below to configure your device and follow the print instructions for your device.
• Select the printer with the PaperCut icon.
• Go to any Virtual Printer and swipe your badge to release your print job. (The first time you print, the printer will ask you to login with your network credentials.)
