Residence Hall Accommodations

Wenatchee Valley College provides housing accommodations for students with disabilities who need a specific living environment because of a disability. If you need a housing-related accommodation, you may request it through the standard Student Access Services (SAS) process.

For students planning to move into the residence hall for Fall quarter, we strongly encourage submitting housing accommodation requests before July 15. Fall move-in typically occurs about one week before classes begin. Requests submitted after July 15 will still be reviewed carefully, but room availability cannot be guaranteed.

If you are unsure whether your situation qualifies, please contact SAS. We are happy to talk through your questions.

Emotional Support Animals

Some students may qualify to have an assistance animal in campus housing.

An assistance animal includes animals that provide support which helps reduce or lessen the effects of a person’s disability. When the animal provides emotional or therapeutic support, it is often called an Emotional Support Animal (ESA).

An approved ESA is allowed in the WVC residence hall only. ESAs are not permitted in other campus buildings.

How to Request an ESA in Housing

To request an ESA as a housing accommodation, students must:

A brief statement such as “the student would benefit from an emotional support animal” is not sufficient. The letter must clearly connect the student’s disability-related needs to the presence of the animal in campus housing. While medical providers are not required to complete our Request for Information for an ESA form, any documentation provided must clearly address the questions on that form. If documentation does not fully address the requested information, we may need to follow up for clarification, which can delay the review process.

If approved, students must review and agree to the accommodation expectations regarding Emotional Support Animal in Student Housing, including furnishing evidence of appropriate animal vaccination and licensing requirements prior to move-in.
