Requirements and Expectations
All interested students meeting the minimum requirements for entrance to the BAS-BH program are encouraged to apply. Admissions
requirements were carefully developed to ensure students’ preparedness for the program
without creating unnecessary and extensive admissions requirements.
Entry Requirements
- Completion of any associate degree or 90 college-level credits from an accredited institution.
- 2.5 cumulative GPA with a minimum 2.0 GPA in applicable courses.
Students need to have completed the following courses with a 2.0 GPA or above:
- ENGL& 101 General Composition
- ENGL& 102, ENGL& 235, 202, or 203 (ENGL& 235 Technical Writing preferred)
- College-level MATH or its equivalent
- PSYC& 100 General Psychology
- Humanities course

Field Practicum
- BAS-BH students will complete a three-quarter field practicum in the second year
- Field practicums will be delivered at local behavioral health organizations
- Students will complete at least 240 hours of field work to develop skills and meet BHSS criteria
- A criminal history background check may be required by human services agencies to
participate in on-site field practicum.
BHSS Licensing Exam
Upon conferment of the BAS-BH degree, students will need to pass a jurisprudence or "law and ethics" exam as part of BHSS credentialing requirements.
The exam is not a comprehensive exam; it evaluates skills within the program and practicum aspects of the curriculum.
