Wenatchee Valley College invites the community to celebrate Tom Martin's retirement with a night of music and the very first Coffeehouse at WVC on Friday, Oct. 9, in The Grove Recital Hall, Music and Art Center. This free event will open at 6:30 with light snacks, followed by performances from 7 to 9 p.m.
The Coffeehouse at WVC will bring our community together and showcase regional talent through free performances featuring live music and poetry in the Music and Art Center's Grove Recital Hall.
Tom Martin is a longtime member of the Wenatchee Valley College Facilities team and has dedicated over 20 years of hard work and service to the college’s mission. “He has helped keep the Wenatchee campus grounds looking their best and has quietly saved the day more times than anyone can count,” said Erin Williams, program manager in WVC’s Facilities and Operations department. “WVC is a better place because of his many years of dedication, and his ability to find the shutoff valve.”
Martin grew up on 1960s folk music where campfires, family sing-alongs, and a guitar were all the entertainment needed. These days, he carries on the tradition with a mix of folk, singer-songwriter favorites, and a few originals of his own. His performances are a blend of guitar and vocals, with cameo appearances from his friends, family, or anyone else he can talk into joining him. He has participated in several musical events at the college, including singing for a Wenatchee campus commencement ceremony.
WVC students, faculty, staff, and community members who are interested in performing as part of the Coffeehouse series are encouraged to reach out to Tom Martin at tmartin@wvc.edu.
