Wenatchee Valley College will host the launch of the Mirror Northwest literary journal on Thursday, May 14, from 6-8 p.m. in the Music and Art Center (MAC) on the Wenatchee campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for socializing. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., student editors will discuss the editorial process, and students, alumni, employees, and community contributors will share their writing and art. Copies of the journal will be available at the event.

Mirror Northwest is the literary and arts journal of Wenatchee Valley College. Mirror Northwest publishes poetry, short fiction, essays, artwork, and photographs from writers and artists at the college and in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.

"Filled with a diversity of art, photography and creative writing, and carefully, lovingly curated by a team of student and alumni editors, this journal really is a reflection of our region and of the college,” said Professor Holly Thorpe who, alongside Professor Ana Maria Spagna, is a faculty advisor for the journal. “We want to welcome our community to campus to celebrate with us. We are so proud of the team that put this together and grateful for the wide support we've received."

The journal was first published in the 1960s, and has been published off and on ever since, led by students and supervised by faculty editors. Prior to the 2025 issue, the journal had been published most recently in 2017 and 2013.

Mirror Northwest is supported by the WVC English and art departments, the WVC libraries, and the WVC Foundation.
