Alumni Spotlight: Giselle Hernandez-Zafra '21
Giselle Hernandez-Zafra, a 2021 WVC graduate with an Associate in Business - DTA degree, spent some time with us this month sharing her experiences at Wenatchee Valley College.
Giselle chose WVC because it was close to home and offered a wealth of fields to explore as she navigated her career path. "It helped me get started all while experiencing what worked for my learning journey and my personal growth journey," she recalls. The proximity allowed her to stay rooted in her community while embarking on her educational journey.
One of Giselle’s fondest memories from WVC is from her very first psychology class. As she walked in, she recognized familiar faces from her past schooling. "Not only did I realize I wasn’t alone, but that it would also be the journey to meeting some of the greatest friends and colleagues I to this day know and keep in touch with!"
Today, Giselle is the OPS Lead for Treetop’s outside warehousing. In this role, she coordinates supply chain, sales, and logistics for incoming and outgoing ingredients. Having graduated from CWU in 2023, she continues to seek growth and opportunity in the agricultural sector, with TreeTop playing an incredible part in her journey.
Giselle's advice to current WVC students is heartfelt and practical: "Ask for help, make friends, connect with mentors, join a club, and most importantly make memories with those you meet! It’s a bittersweet moment when you create friendships that last a lifetime. I know I sure did!"
